Where Are The Democrats?

It is becoming more evident each day that George Bush is a madman bent on throwing the world into chaos.

Fine.

But the Democratic Congress was elected to stop him.  It's a democracy, stupid!

Where are these elected representatives?

How supine, how lordotic can our country permit its elected representatives to be before we lose our national identity and our nation?

I, for one, no longer hold George Bush responsible for a single thing taking place in the world.  The Democratic Congress can stop him.  If they don't, it is their cowardice, not Bush's insanity that destroys us.

The Democrat vs The Publican Party (none / 0)

It is just this cowardice which makes me think that we will need for someone outside the current system to take on the madman. John Edwards and Al Gore are the only two who seem able to take the job on, and do a thorough job of it...Who are actually considering the world outside themselves at the sacrifice of more selfish concerns. But as Gurdjieff once advised...

"CONSIDER EXTERNALLY ALWAYS, INTERNALLY NEVER."

Donate your time and effort to rebuilding New Orleans, like America's Gandhis -- Carter and Edwards. Not afraid of the poor, but rather radiating health and hope in real time.

Democrats consider externally; are good samaritans. Some are just better than others.

Tell the Party! (none / 0)

Last night, I received a call from a Dem Party fundraiser volunteer. He went through a prepared text with the general stuff about how great the election was and how we need to win more seats in '08. He asked me to re-up with money.

I replied, "I tell you what. I will support the Party with money again when it stands up against Bush to end this war."

The volunteer was surprised and thrown off his scripot. His instinctive response was to agree, and then he said something about how he had heard that certain things were being done and might occur... Blah, blah, blah.

I said, "Listen. I will support this Partyy again with money when it works out a consensus and substantial stand against the war. Something more than non-binding resolutions. Tell your masters that."

The volunteer doubtfully said, "Well, OK."

We gotta do it. We gotta tell the Party what it needs to do.

No money, no contributions until those clowns go to work in some inspiring, effective way.

But, you know, I ain't holding my breath.

Re: Tell the Party! (none / 0)

I have decided not to fund anyone who is less than the best they can be. I do not care if their ideology is perfectly in tune with mine. I just want some common ground, but more of a will to lead the right way and speak out against what they perceive as wrong.

As far as the Iraq war, there is no room for compromise with me. It is a disaster from every angle - plans, design, competence, corruption. I see no reason for a candidate to go soft on this war for any reason whatsoever.
